I loved it, particularly the titular story. One of the better anti-war stories I've read in quite awhile. I'd have actually rather seen a film about that story than Ted's Connecticut adventure.

I really liked the title story and Low Men in Yellow Coats. The other two were fine, but not good enough, for me personally, to deserve a 5.
I gave it a four. Great work, but maybe not excellent- at least all the way through.

This is exactly how I feel about the movie. It does get a big 5 from me. It is my favorite King book of all time.
I have to give this one a 3. It was good in parts, mostly the Low Men novella (novel?), but some parts of it, especially the titular story, really dragged for me.

same here
I love this book. There wasn't a story in here that I didn't enjoy. Hell, I even started playing Hearts because of this book. 5 it is.
I like Hearts, the card game, I often played it on my old PC at the time.

4.5, really, but I rounded up.
I think I need to read it again....
I think I need to read it again....
This whole tournament has really made me want to re-read all the King books I have read, some so long ago now. I never thought I'd ever be re-reading books, because there are just so many left to read, and so little time to do it in, but I will just have to.

"So little time" worries me.... (How much longer do you have to live? :()
But yeah, I haven't read every King book I have yet, and I already want to re-read some I've already read....

Well, thankfully I'm just about to turn 29, so I'm hoping I still have a few good years left in me. But still, given the vast amount of world literature there is, both classic and new, I can't fathom re-reading many books. But what I was saying is that this tournament made me realize that I probably should, at least some of my best-liked King books, because they're just so damn good.

I was thinking that too. This is Aaron's favorite, or close to favorite, I think. I never liked it that much. It was good, but ... meh.

4. I liked it.
Also, if not for it, I might never have started the Dark Tower series!

5! Excellent, and a great illustration, I think, of where SK is coming from.

I only read this book because it was part of the Dark Tower Mythos. I saw the movie and pretty much hated it... But the book is wonderful and it's a great collection of stories (it was pretty dumb that the story in the movie had pretty much zero to do with the title). A 5.

3. If not for the ties to DT it would have gotten a 2. Low Men was the only valuable read.
Hm, I didn't care for the DT ties. Granted at the time I was reading this I was aware of the Dark Tower novels but hadn't yet read any.

Hearts In Atlantis is easily in my top five King books. Really shows his insight into the human condition and the social atmosphere of the time. 5 for sure
