the four other (than bears) Desperation lovers, why don't you post?!
a 5, and would be a 500 if I could... On my top 5, one of the favorites ever.

4. Fast and fun read. The ending seemed a little unlike the rest of the story, but still enjoyable.
The first one hundred pages or so I loved; some of the most gripping stuff King ever wrote. After which he completely lost me...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oh, you know, no surprise here. One of my favorites ever. So that's two, and we're waiting now for four other (than you & me) Desperation lovers.

I read this one within the past year, just before reading THE REGULATORS. I enjoyed DESPERATION so much more, by a very wide gap.
My enjoyment of the book was positively influenced by the Don Maitz remarque project that had been a subject of great interest here at TDT.org before I read the book. I loved the artwork as it was unveiled, although it was pretty much out of context for me. Finally reading the book, I had vivid pictures in my mind to accompany King's story.
Anyway, I'll give this story a...

Top tier King. Very creepy story; well-plotted with good characters. No weak points. Definite 5.

Gave it a 3, simply because I remember very little about it. I might think more of it after a reread.

Oh, and another bonus -- On top of everything else great about this novel, I love new languages. :D

5. 5. 5. 5. 5.
Not only is it my favorite SK novel, it's in my top 5 favorite novels of all time. I make it a point to reread as much as I can (going on 12 times now) and each time is just as enjoyable as the last. There's just something about this book that took me by storm and it's always a treat to revisit it. I love it.

Don't worry, Jean. Considering how much praise I've been seeing for it, it's definitely a book I'll get round to reading eventually. Considering my reading speed and how many books I have to read, I'm sure I'll read it by the time I'm...50? Maybe 45 at the earliest? Eventually, I'll read it, anyway.

Will do, Jean. Eventually. First, I need to finish Artemis Fowl, Sherlock Holmes, and Des Smith. (The last one of which Pond is getting very upset about that I'm not even halfway through yet, let alone finished.)
I agree. Ponds first. But bears next.
The poll has closed. Desperation has earned a FAS (final average score) of 4.040000000 or 80.80%, placing 2nd (runner-up) in this bracket. It will be moving on to Round 2.
Desperation is back in the second round after missing it in 2010.
