    Default Raymond E. Feist

Since I wasn't able to find a thread about this author or his books, I just went ahead and made one...

    First off; I've read the following novels written by Raymond E. Feist;

    ***
    The Riftwar Saga
    ---
    Magician: Apprentice (1986)
    Magician: Master (1986)
    Silverthorn (1985)
    A Darkness at Sethanon (1986)

    Krondor's Sons
    ---
    Prince of the Blood (1989)
    The King's Buccaneer (1992)

    The Serpentwar Saga
    ---
Shadow of a Dark Queen (1994)
Rise of a Merchant Prince (1995)
Rage of a Demon King (1997)
Shards of a Broken Crown (1998)

    The Riftwar Legacy
    ---
    Krondor: The Betrayal (1998)
    Krondor: The Assassins (1999)
Krondor: Tear of the Gods (2000)
    ***

I really love his books but I'll be the first to admit they aren't the most well written books ever or anything. They just seem to grab you and I just couldn't stop reading...

I also totally dig how characters grow during a book and during the different series... I definitely need to re-read those books and then read the other series he wrote as well...

If you've never heard of his books I just suggest starting with Magician: Apprentice and you'll probably be hooked in no time!

Magician: Apprentice is definitley on my reading list. I checked out the first chapter on Amazon and liked the prose. The protag's name rocks. Pug. How many fantasy heroes are named after such an awesome dog?

Do the various sagas connect to one another, or are they standalone?

It does connect. Although not always in a linear way or with the same characters but I would recommend reading them in their chronological order (story wise that is)

And trust me Magician is a great book.....

I've only read Faerie Tale, which was a good concept, but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the writing. That's why I haven't read any of his other stuff.

I do agree that his writing style isn't one of the highest quality but I would recommend giving magician a try...

Twilights Fire- you are missing out on 3 GREAT Books here.
You absolutely need to read the 3 Books co-written by RE Feist & Janny Wurts:
    -Daughter of the Empire
    -Servant of the Empire
    -Mistress of the Empire

These 3 tell the tale of the Riftwar from the other side of the Rift during the same timeframe. Absolutely brilliant stuff.
