Never Read
hated this story the first time i read it. sat down in b&n this year and reread it and couldn't put it down. really, i couldn't put it down. i sat there for two and a half hours completely engrossed and waiting to see what would happen next.
you can tell it's a young concept but it was completely fascinating to me.
Two Bachman books in Bracket 3. This has the better chance of moving on, I think.
I gave it a 2. It was okay, but I wasn't overly impressed with it.
"People, especially children, aren't measured by their IQ. What's important about them is whether they're good or bad, and these children are bad." ~ Alan Bernard
"You needn't die happy when your day comes, but you must die satisfied, for you have lived your life from beginning to end and ka is always served." ~ Roland Deschain
I gave it a 3. Not his best but, one of the better Bachman tales. The Long Walk is still the best one.
Margaret Emmie Mackey Catoe, you are, have been, and always will be my soulmate, and I love you.
Con todo mi corazon, por todo de mis dias. And I always will, in this life and into the next.

only so-so
Ask not what bears can do for you, but what you can do for bears. (razz)
When one is in agreement with bears one is always correct. (mae)
bears are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gave this 4. Not a bad Book at all. Pity about the movie.
I gave it a 3. It was ok.
A good Bachman book with a lot of action, so it gets a 4.
2. LEAST FAVORITE OF THE BACHMAN BOOKS
Average for me.
It'll take a lot more than words and guns,
A whole lot more than riches and muscle.
The hands of the many must join as one.
And together we'll cross the river.
Puscifer, "The Humbling River"

Not all. Only Bracket 1. It's been up for a week. Bracket 2 will close in two days.
Check the bracket schedule for more info on how this breaks down.
After much thought I went with a 3 on this one. It's been years since I've read it, but I remember enjoying it. However there's so many other books that I would rank above this one.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
I liked it. I think it could have been an amazing movie if they would have stuck with the original written premise.
The kindness of close friends is like a warm blanket
That had to easily be one of the worst adaptations that I have ever seen. They pretty much threw away the entire story.

What's funny is that I watched the movie way before I started reading King, when I was a kid, and being a kid I really liked the movie a lot, of course. I was shocked to find out, years later, that it was "based on" an early King novel. I was then relieved to find out, much like The Lawnmower Man, it had fuck-all to do with the written work.
That's what happens when they take a story with a lot of action in it and try to make it an "action movie". There's a world of difference between an action movie and a movie with a lot of action in it. The Running Man could have been a phenomenal movie. Instead it's another piece of crap action movie.
I knew you were thinking it.
Lemme bump this so that it isn't stuck amongst the closed polls.
