Never Read
It's interesting how even the vote on this one is.
I put in that it was "good". I've read it several times, and basically have that impression of it.
The kindness of close friends is like a warm blanket
I voted good. I liked the way King wove the outside sources into the story.

i voted average for this one. i don't know what it was about it but it just didn't do anything for me. it was kind of like munching my way through a bag of stale chocolate. of course i'm going to eat it it's chocolate. . . . you know?
I voted average. It was good, but it wasn't spectacular.

"You needn't die happy when your day comes, but you must die satisfied, for you have lived your life from beginning to end and ka is always served." ~ Roland Deschain
It was ok. It was one of the latest Sk books I read so it's fresh in my memory, but it is nowhere near the top of my "Favorites" list.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. - Edgar Allan Poe
Bunch together a group of people deliberately chosen for strong religious feelings, and you have a practical guarantee of dark morbidities expressed in crime, perversion, and insanity. - H.P. Lovecraft
A 4 for me. Pretty good book.
Voted "5". Love this book.
Ask not what bears can do for you, but what you can do for bears. (razz)
When one is in agreement with bears one is always correct. (mae)
bears are back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I voted 4. It scared the crap out of me first time I read it (I lived alone at that point) and listened to the audio a few months ago and it was better than I remembered.
I like the different perspectives age can give you on a story like this.
Personally, I voted 3. To me it was just average. Certainly an early work, somewhat raw. It has its charm, of course.
Even though it could be argued that it's rawness is due to King's age and experience as a writer at that point - it's what lent it credibility to me. It sounded very much the voice of a teenage girl, I don't think he could have pulled it off as well if he'd written it later in life.
Oh absolutely.
Went with average on this one. It was ok, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as his other stories I've read.
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
I thought it was a brilliant teenage story written by a man about a teenage girl who's not average. Still, I can't give it a 5 since I found it good but not awesomely so.
For a first novel, It was pretty good overall.
Dragline : Nothin'. A handful of nothin'. You stupid mullet head. He beat you with nothin'. Just like today when he kept comin' back at me - with nothin'.
Luke : Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.
I read this for the first time pretty recently, I agree with the comments by Darkthoughts and Wizardsrainbow. I thought it was good.
