2nd Nanook of the North
Spies (1928)
Fritz Lang
I'll second Napoleon.
I will second The Crowd - a really poignantly sad one.
My Best Girl (1927)
Sam Taylor
Watch trailer:
I will nominate Steamboat Bill, Jr. - a Buster Keaton classic that has so many iconic scenes of comedy and action. Check this out from the climax. The full climax of this movie is so relevant to what going on with the weather in this country of late.
Spoiler:
It (1927)
Clarence G. Badger
Watch trailer:
No, not Pennywise, Clara Bow!
The Mark of Zorro (1920)
Fred Niblo
The Seashell and the Clergyman (1928)
Germaine Dulac
I will second He Who Gets Slapped, which is perhaps Lon Chaney's best film - Pennywise better watch out.
I will nominate Cops, another Buster Keaton & Eddie Cline directed series of gags. A very Kafkaesque romp.
Yeah there are great shorts that unfortunately don't qualify for our tournament, but thankfully Keaton made some all-time classic features!
Oh yes for sure, and if we were to get into the 1910s, the no shorts rule would need to be dropped. Hope you have more to nominate too, and more Keaton, as well!
Way Down East (1920)
D.W. Griffith
Watch trailer:
I'll second The Unknown.
And that takes us to halfway through our nominations!
