Strike
I know it's technically considered a documentary, but this is too surreal and stylized to be one:
Man with a Movie Camera (1929)
Dziga Vertov
Watch trailer:
The Toll of the Sea (1922),
Chester M. Franklin
I believe the first color feature film.
Un Chien Andalou (1929)
Louis Buñuel
I'll second The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
He Who Gets Slapped (1924)
Victor Sjöström
The Big Parade (1925)
King Vidor
Watch trailer:
Haha that was literally going to be my next one!
So I'll go with:
So This Is Paris (1926)
Ernst Lubitsch
Der Januskopf/The Head of Janus (1920)
F. W. Murnau
I'll second The Phantom Carriage.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (1921)
Rex Ingram
This is actually a lost film: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Januskopf
I just got back from being off the grid for vacation in New Hampshire. You guys are doing a great job so far. I gotta get unpacked and caught up before looking at my nominations list.
For now, I second Faust. Murnau's visions are so fantastic, and this is one of my absolute favorites.
And I'll second Diary of a Lost Girl.
