So that wouldn't be fac simile.
I have noticed the "copyyright 1942" but with Fourth edition. So :SDCC - 1st ed ?
S&S - nov 2nd ed?

The sigs are different, so they had someone actually sign them.

The "copyright 1942" ties it in with The Waste Lands. A new book that was copyrighted in 1942 could easily be on it's fourth edition. It's all part of the fiction of Beryl Evans being the author.

SDCC - US limited edition. (SDCC) True first edition.
S&S - US first trade edition. There are two states of the first printing.
Waterstone - UK limited edition with limited signed print housed in a slipcase.

Here is what I can surmise so far:
US EDITION - there are clearly two versions of the 1st printing. As to how rare the one with the UPC sticker on the back is compared to the other one, I don't know. In my area, all of my copies are the ones with the sticker.
UK EDITION - the print is signed and numbered to 1000, but we don't know for sure who signed it. Or, if someone does, they are not saying :-) I think the book is a regular 1st printing.
Not missing anything. Its just a bookplate in a regular UK H&S children's book. Don't know if it was signed by a lacky at Hodder or Waterstones. At least it only cost £20.

At the end of the day i like this book simply because of its histoey with DT series. Fab artwork too.

I have mine in hand and they are slipcased with a signed limited edition print. Hope this clarifies.
