It did very little for me as entertainment or educational material. I hoped for more.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. - Edgar Allan Poe
Bunch together a group of people deliberately chosen for strong religious feelings, and you have a practical guarantee of dark morbidities expressed in crime, perversion, and insanity. - H.P. Lovecraft
I liked it a lot. It was short but to the point. Perhaps King has a fat memoir in him yet, but this was very good, I thought.
I borrowed and returned this book with out finishing it
The answer is within
all matter is energy, all energy is GOD
I'm not ashamed to say that I disagree with everyone except Pablo. It got straight A's for me.
I've had the misfortune of having to read a lot of books on writing in grad school. The majority approach is to treat writing in a way that is emotionally detached in order to remain objective. King writes because he has to, and its his passion that is so compelling to me. The second half had so much gravitas because the practical aspects of writing are served by the desires he outlined in the first half. There's nothing wrong with the desire to be technically efficient, but at the same time, the most technically savvy writers remain terrible if they aren't motivated in the purest of ways.
BAB for me. I thought the editing and rewriting exercise with 1408 at the end was very informative. I find most books about the craft of writing to be quite dull, with all the passion removed. This book was actually quite enjoyable to read.
I went ABA. I enjoyed King's autobiography and found the whole thing very informative for me. It has remained one of the few books about writing that made any impression on me.
Margaret Emmie Mackey Catoe, you are, have been, and always will be my soulmate, and I love you.
Con todo mi corazon, por todo de mis dias. And I always will, in this life and into the next.

Never read (and don't really plan to).
"People, especially children, aren't measured by their IQ. What's important about them is whether they're good or bad, and these children are bad." ~ Alan Bernard
"You needn't die happy when your day comes, but you must die satisfied, for you have lived your life from beginning to end and ka is always served." ~ Roland Deschain
Ok, it got from me one ay, and then it got another ay making it two so far, and then one more extra ay there at the other end.
"...that Siren which called and sang and promised so much and gave, after all, so little." ~ Ray Bradbury
I believe I gave it straight As too. I don't remember 100% if that's true... but I love the book.
