Well, he did leave everyone "hanging" for many years. Whether his fault or not. No disrespect, I enjoyed it, but put yourself in the time and place and you'd feel "cheated" too.

I think that was a result of the producers and financiers more than his intention. I definitely think Peter Jackson had the right idea when he insisted upon making three separate films, and not allowing a studio to buy it if they were going to ruin it.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. I doubt it was Ralph's idea to not finish it. Guess I'n still bitter after all these long years!!!! LOL LOL LOL

Anyway, I'm glad someone enjoyed my running commentary of that film for FB. Hopefully I'll be invited to do a commentary track when they rerelease it for its 40th anniversary.
