(To be honest they just evoked an over-violent (by 'over' I mean more than needed - & I'm not an overly-squeamish reader) shadow of Robert Jordans
sul'dame / damane setup and the
a'dam (leash) control.
I think the Mord-Sith was one of the straws that broke this camel's back.
I'm just one reader who did not like
this series. It's no big deal.
And, as I said above, I'm a big supporter of any reader trying this & any (& every) series/book.
