I've seen Tool twice: September 2006 and July 2007. Both great shows, but the first was a bit frustrating because, although I didn't have what I'd call "obstructed view" seats, the amp stacks blocked my view of Danny (one of my favorite drummers; he's a beast), so all I saw was the occasional flourish of sticks and him standing up at the end of the show.
If you're interested, here are the set lists:
September 2006:
Stinkfist
The Pot
Forty-six & Two
Jambi
Schism
Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)
Rosetta Stoned
Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
Lateralus
Vicarious
Aenima
July 2007:
Jambi
Stinkfist
Forty-six & Two
Schism
Rosetta Stoned
Pushit
Flood
Wings For Marie (Pt 1)
10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)
Lateralus
Vicarious
Prior to the 2006 concert, trying and failing to see Tool was kind of a life motif:
- I would've liked to see them around the time of Undertow (pre-internet), but they didn't mention the concert on my local rock station until after it happened.
- I got tickets to see them on the Aenima tour, but they oversold the show and I couldn't get in
- I was too broke and devoid of free time to see them on the Lateralus tour
I bought a ticket in late 2019, only to sell it later - I'm sure it would've been great (and I do love Fear Inoculum), but I've become too much of a couch potato.
