Richard, it seems rather obvious the fake signature was a 1980's style of King's signature. The seller states King signed it in front of him ~3years ago, thus undermining the sellers credibilty.
In the future, if you are confused, PM me and I'll try to help you.:grouphug:
Yeaaa !! I got a negative Rep.
I see on the collectors forum someone almost bought this book from a different seller, before they realized it was a BCE. Looks like someone bought it slapped on a new DJ and is reselling it. Don't know why he would lie and say King signed it in front of him, when clearly that's not the case. Not a signature expert, so question is, could this be a genuine sig from the 80's (or 90's or whenever) ? At any rate, he doesn't mention that the book is a BCE even though he slapped on a new DJ.
Here are the two auctions:

The last post in this thread describes another persons experiences with this book. (or at least the 7th post, since it might not be the last post anymore)

Even if we dismiss the backstory and judge the signature on its own merits (or lack thereof), i wouldnt want that signature anywhere near my collection.
I was interested until the series of three and half foot long single-column quotes, then I just clicked away.
Yeah, it was more content-related; I don't watch reality TV or Jerry Springer or anything like that for a reason.Quote:
It's a bug in the software where too many quoted posts result in the annoying (essentially unreadable) single column of quotes.
King related, questionable to me though I've never seen one before so could be wrong. "Stephen King HEARTS IN ATLANTIS 1st Ed COVER ART Signed Proof by Phil Heffernan." Looks to me like the words "Artists Proof" are in a different hand, added afterwards; besides that the correct term is Artist Proof, and I'd think even if it was the first one that Mr. Heffernan would spell "Artist's" correctly. But hey, for $1240 maybe you're willing to take a shot? :Money emoticon:

Something sketchy about Artists Proof being added as an afterthought. :orely:
For what it's worth, I bought a The Martian Chronicles artist proof for $130 including tax & shipping
It is marked: A/P 21/200 and is signed by Ray Bradbury and Robert Watson.

Trash.
Perhaps my sarcasm didn't come through as intended ... yeah, complete and utter trash. I've got a pretty good poster and print collection, and every one that is Publisher Proof or Artist Proof is both labeled as such (usually PP - P/P or AP - A/P) and most are numbered with limitation, was obviously produced as such, and many have accompanying provenance documentation. I've seen your Martian Chronicles print before; loved that book as a kid, actually drew a large poster featuring the Sand Ships for an art contest.Quote:

I say no.
Feels funny like it's squeezed. Seek other opinions.
Another from the same seller: Stephen King HAND SIGNED Cujo A Novel 1st Edition & Printing Something seems off...such low starting bids.
No bueno IMO
I wouldn’t own either of those items, nor would I spend a dollar to buy them for a friend.
No thanks, no way Jose.
