My roommate and I have been playing Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, respectively, for old times' sake. I was out of it for a while - when did this series get so dark? There's a lot more death and destruction in these.

You know, I've never played these. I have Silver, Fire Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green. They're entertaining enjoyable games, especially if you have friend you can play against. I also like Yugioh The Eternal Duelist's Soul for the gba, and it's one of my favorite gba games. I happen to think I'm the best duelist in the world, btw. :cool:
As of late, when I find time to game, it has mostly been PC stuff: Sim City Societies, Hellgate London, Unreal Tournament III, and Neverwinter Nights 2.

There are different types of socities you can strive for, or mix together:
In SimCity Societies there are four types of buildings: power plants, houses, workplaces, and venues. Houses are where citizens live (Sims can also be homeless), workplaces are where Sims work (Sims can also be unemployed), and venues are places that provide happiness to citizens. Power plants provide power to the city, and generate income. There are also decorations such as plazas and sculptures.Quote:
Authoritarian: Built up with a focus on authority, authoritarian cities are reminiscent of communist capitals such as Moscow or Bucharest, or the fictional London from George Orwell's 1984—complete with surveillance cameras, secret police, propaganda ministries, opulent buildings for the leadership, and slum housing projects.
Capitalist: Focus is on productivity and prosperity. Capitalist cities feature buildings such as department stores, skyscrapers, stock markets, corporately-owned tenements, and major company headquarters.

I've been having a lot of fun with it. So far, my city has three major sections. The first is a very hippie artistic type place that is almost all creativity based with band houses and cottages. The second section is sort of like a college town and has a great deal of knowledge stuff, with dorms a college and various other community type housing. The last section is a corporate type area with a lot of businesses, retail places, media type businesses with a lot of flats, dream houses and one big mansion.
I have been playing (and enjoying) this as well. I have made several cities, trying different types. Funnily enough, I made a "contemplative" city and so far, all my workers are totally ecstatic! They LOVE me! I've even sent down a killer storm on them, make a bunch of them live in gross little huts, and sent an earthquake and they don't care! They're still happy as pigs in shit!

Hells yeah. The only gripe I have is how hard it is to transfer legendaries and starters from previous versions to this one... But, that's the digs.
Anyway. These games are huge. There's so much crap to do... I haven't tried even a quarter of the side quest stuff.
I haven't played pokemon since the eighth grade and that was red.
