You're such a flatterer.
:harrier: Where were you planning on getting one done?
Daghain your Irish flag always makes me look at your location! I think oooh another Irish fan, but alas no. :)
I really can't wait to get my found symbols now!
Hey! Irish~Rose! Stay on topic here!
We're talking about Daghain getting hot DT tats on her butt cheeks! :D
Puh, puh please Daggers? :innocent:
I have no idea where I'll get my next one, but if I do get a next one, it will definitely be a DT tat.
Part of the problem is figuring out where I want it. You have to think about gravity, you know.
He does have a point Daggers. :)
Yeah, I've heard those ass tattoos hurt like hell.
Tattoos hurt like hell. No matter where you get them...needles going into your skin pumping ink into your body's largest organ...yeah...its going to hurt like hell.
Nah, the one on my shoulder hardly hurt at all.
Well thats just from one of my best friends who has whole bunch of them.
It depends on location, and your pain threshold mainly. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, so I'm probably not a good barometer. :)
it def depends on location. mine have ranged from excruciating to no pain at all depening on where they were.
Have no tattoos myself, so I wouldn't know about the pain.
I did work at one time in England with 3 skinheads. One of them had a graveyard tattoed all accross the back of his head. Can just imagine the needle bouncing off your skull for multiple hours while that was being done! *shudder*
I know someone that has a lot of tattoes and he has one that is two snakes going up his upper arm. The tounge of one of the snakes ends right by his armpit. He said that one had him out of the chair a few times.
The tattoo that I have on my arm didn't hurt at all, but the Ka symbol on my lower leg hurt like crazy.
in all seriousness, i would love to do a Dark Tower sleeve, or other large scale DT tattoo. i currently tattoo out of atlanta, but i travel to conventions all over the country, and i also have clients fly in regularly since flying into atlanta is so affordable. this story has been a huge part of my life for the last 15 years, and i feel that i have an obligation to express that. which means whomever the recipient is will most assuredly get one hell of a deal. if anyone on this site is interested, you can check my pedigree at http://www.allornothingtattoo.com or http://www.daveMFtedder.com
and you can bet your watch and warrant that as soon as i get a fish that bites, youll see the most incredible Dark Tower tattoo yet. hell, just click the link if you think im pulling your leg.
on a side note, i didnt pick up 5-7 until very recently because i was terrified that i would hate them, and unless the ending really proves to be the great mind-fuckaroo that ive heard rumors of, that might just be the case. i really think the ending is going to make it or break it for me, im not sure what i want to happen, but i love an upset.
so..... now that im roughly 600+ pages deep into book 7, right where roland is in the tet corp. and finds out about this link to insomnia. my question is, should i stop where im at and read insomnia? i dont wanna read part of the adventure after its already reached the clearing, if thats the case. basically what im asking is, does reading insomnia before finishing the series add to the mystery of the Dark Tower, and thus add to the fun? or is it a book that i could read as an afterthought to the series?
oh yea, im sure it goes without saying, no spoilers please
Wow Dave! I really like your work.
I'm seriously considering getting a half-sleeve and my dad lives in Atlanta, so I'm down there several times a year as it's only a 5 hour drive for me here in Kentucky.
I bookmarked your website so I can get in touch with you down the line.
Also, to answer your question, I read the Dark Tower 1-7 and then read Insomnia. I quite enjoyed it that way and don't feel I missed much. But then again, I could understand someone else wanting to stop and read Insomnia so they would know exactly what was happening and would recognize characters/events. I think it just depends what type of person you are...if you'd rather be completely informed going into things, or if you don't mind finding out a bit more (not too much) later.
Dave, firstly let me say that your ink work is awesome! i love tattoo art work and yours is spectacular.
as for Insomnia, I agree with Erin that you may as well finish out the DT books. I had read Insomnia before DT 5-7 but only bc 5-7 didn't exist yet at the time to be read. I don't think you will miss anything you "need" to know for the ending, nor will DT-7 spoil Insomnia for you. Personally, I was a bit distracted towards the end trying to fit something from Insomnia in to my view of where DT-7 was going. Without saying more, when you read Insomnia, you will see what I meant.
Skip Insomnia altogether! It is a farse, crap!
Nice tats, btw.
Very nice!
