Plea to Cat Lovers
Specifically, those that live in the New York/New Jersey Area. If you know anyone who can/is willing to adopt a cat-seven years old, gray domestic short hair, female-please drop my a line. A really dear friend of mine is facing a beloved pet meets deathly allergic child situation and needs to find a home for her in the next three weeks. If you're interested, and want more information, please send me a pm. Or an e-mail.

Are there any no-kill shelters around? If there's an allergy involved they'll usually take it without a fee or the lectures on pet ownership.
I'd take her but I can't afford my rent as it is. :(

I spoke with a friend who knows a lot more about this than I do. Apparently, there are a lot of no-kill shelters, but not that many with enough room to accommodate cats.
-
Really? We have several no-kills that take cats in central PA. Maybe call around, usually they won't take cats from outside their district (because of space limits) but maybe if you explained the situation they'd make an exception. Also, No-Kill Network this site lists no-kills by state, I think some of them are even cat-specific.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll deifnitely look into it.

You're welcome. I know shelter life isn't the best option, but if the kid is really that allergic it might be the most humane thing for both of them.
-
It's a thought. We'll see what options are available in the next few weeks.
-
Update: Still no takers. We have about a week left, but hopefully one of the people who expressed interest will get back to me before next week is out.
-
I think we might have found a potential owner.

Yeah, I was cutting it a bit close. I needed to get this done before tomorrow morning, but the person I was speaking with about adopting came through in the end.
